Our Pears

The Pear is both tree of genus Pyrus and the name of its edible pomaceous fruit.

The trees are medium sized and are often tall with a narrow crown, most are deciduous but a few varieties in Southeast Asia are evergreen. Most trees are hardy against weather conditions and can withstand temperatures of around -30°C in the winter.

The fruit is very similar to an apple in terms of cultivation, propagation and pollination and they are both related to the quince.

The main types of Pears CFUK handle include:

  • Williams
  • Pacha
  • Comice
  • Conference
  • Forelle
  • Rocha

Pears are rich in vitamin A and C and are much less allergenic than many other fruits.
